To dream that you engage in a fight may reflect conflict in real life - with friends, family, or co-workers. Fighting could also symbolize an internal conflict, such as a moral dilemma - conscience battling against selfish desire, for example. There are other types of inner conflicts as well, such as tensions between opposing personality traits, such as your masculine and feminine sides, emotion and intellect.
Dreams involving fighting with someone close to you may reflect unresolved anger toward that person.
If, in your dream, you are unable to fight or feel weak - for example you try to punch or strike your opponent but you have no strength, it may reflect feelings of helplessness. Perhaps you lack confidence in your ability to overcome the conflict reflected in your dream.

Many times I have seen that dream of not having strength when I went to beat some person with all my power by trying again and again and couldn’t hit him. Every time I see that happening in my dream, thogh, I find other ways to hurt my opponents. Most of the time I stab them or I throw big things at them or trap them. In the end I always win, I don’t understand how I am lacking confidence.

I’ve had that dream before - when you try to punch someone, and as soon as your fist gets near where you’re trying to hit them, it goes in some weird slow motion. It’s like repelling magnets. I think it means, if you know the person you are hitting, that you either feel inferior to them for some reason or you might just feel helpless about something. If it’s someone you don’t know, that symbolizes that you’re feeling weak. It doesn’t mean you actually are weak.
I’ve also been having weird dreams about killing people and hurting them in scary ways. I was really freaked out that maybe I had mental problems, but I found out it’s actually alright to dream like that, because it’s a healthy way of releasing frustration and anger by acting out how you feel in your dream. For example you might be frustrated about someone in work or school and then you have a dream that you beat them up LOL. It makes you feel better about yourself and it means you don’t have to do it in real life.

I had a dream last night like this.
I hate them because I know in real life I could knock them out in 1 or 2 shots, yet I punch my hardest and it barely phases them. I usually have 3 or 4 people attacking me at once. Sometimes I get stabbed up and crap. It’s pretty scary.

I had this dream that a girl I know and have conflict with approaches me. She then pulls my hair resulting in myself hitting her and winning the fight. Later on I had a similar dream, the fight went exactly the same way but the scenario was different. What does this mean?

I just had this dream where a guy wanted to fight me (fist fight) so we did, multiple times. It got to the point where i hurt him so much that one of his friends told me to leave him alone, I saw what they meant by it. So I did. Now that I am awake, when looking back I feel bad for doing it to this person, even if it was only a dream

My dad had a dream that he and his best friend had a argument nothing physical, and they ended the friendship. He’s pretty worried, so any help would be appreciated.

I had a dream where 4 guys were fighting over me. One I know and like in real life and ended up going out with in my dream. One was Jacob Black from Twilight. Another was Edward from Twilight. The last was some kid named Cody who was my boyfriend at the start of the dream. I hung out with Ed more than my boyfriend in the dream.

I’ve had the same dream every night for the past two weeks. It’s about me hitting a guy in my school until he gives up. Then in the dream I choke him until his face turns blue. Then I just let go and help him up. It’s really weird and it happens every night.

I keep on having this dream where I walk into my school angry and start fighting many girls at once. But in the end I end up winning the fight.

I keep dreaming that I’m punching someone with all my strength and it’s not hurting and they are laughing at me. This dream happened often but I don’t know who the person is that I’m punching.

OMG thank you! A couple of years ago I had a childhood bully. He never hurt me physically, though I would have many dreams about me becoming enraged and punching him, but he would only laugh at my attempts, which would only anger me more and bring me to tears. I always wondered why I could never beat him in my dream.

I’ve had several dreams with mother in the last couple of weeks. In one she is held hostage and forgives her attackers whereas I call the police confront them and eventually kill both attackers. The recent one is that she is cheating on my father with a hideous person. I’m telling her that he is unfaithful and can give her an STD. He then starts to fight me and I’m able to drag him and pick him up but when I punch him directly it has little effect on him.
I figured the dream meant I felt helpless about something but I have no idea what. And what does my mother have to do with it? Any help will be appreciated!

I have had the same dream several times recently. Much like everyone on here, I am punching an unknown person as hard as I can and with a lot of anger but my punches dont phase them and I feel weak. After researching this dream, I feel this is due to the possibiltiy of me being promoted soon to a much higher position at work but I have fears that I wont do it well. It’s nothing I have talked about but sub-concsious feels I have doubt and concerns about this situation. I believe its a sign of weakness and uncertainty.

I’ve had that dream also, where I punch but have slow motion punches and the other person hits me but I have no affect on them.

I’ve had 9 or 8 dreams about fighting a girl at school that I dislike. But everytime I try to hit her my punch goes in slow motion and she doesn’t feel anything. Its wierd because I’ve been having these dreams one after another.

I dream that im punching my mum really hard in the face with all my strenghth but she cant feel it and it doesn’t affect her at all and I can tell she is enjoying watching me get more upset and angry with her.
Alex // Jun 16, 2010 at 6:25 am
I keep having this dream about fighting with my friend. But it’s very serious. Instead of being weak, I’m actually really strong and always the one that wins.
Mike // Apr 28, 2010 at 2:35 pm
I have that same thing in my dreams - I engage in a fight and it has little or no affect on them. I’ve always wondered what that symbolizes.
emily // Jan 11, 2010 at 6:41 pm
For me, I feel so angry in my dreams that all I want to do is hurt the other person–badly. But no matter how hard I try, I can’t even touch them. It’s like two magnets repelling each other, and the other person ends up smirking then laughing at me (which only makes me even more angry). So then, I usually wake up with this horribly intense anger, which sometimes lasts through the rest of the day.

I keep having different dreams about fighting. The first one was me fighting this girl I didn’t know. We ended up stabbing each other up, but I stabbed her so much that she had to stop. Plus, I started feeling like I didn’t want to fight anymore. The second was about me and my little brother fighting together against a whole bunch of people. When the fight ended and my little brother called his people’s to come and retaliate, everyone scattered.

I also dream this lol, my last dream of this was last night. It’s normally men I fight but this 1 was a girl I know, but this time she was fightin back and I was defendin my self with high kicks, blockin her punches, something I would never ever do in real life lol. Also when I found my self punchin her I was usin the inner part of my fists, like the thumb and index finger part .. very very wierd. But mostly they don’t fight back and I cant even punch, sometimes when I land a punch, my fists kinda slip off their face .. so wierd, hate them

I had this dream last night that, although it was a different setting where the fight took place, the same sort of thing keeps happening. In my dream I kept seeing this guy that would be stealing stuff from other people, just a creepy guy with no exact face. But finally after a lot of debate, I saw him under a bridge with all this stolen stuff and jumped on him and put him in a headlock and either knocked him out or killed him.

i keep having this dream where im in a physical fight with my best mate outside my girlfriend’s mothers shop…each time i strike a fist at this guy there is absolutly no effect what so ever..asif i missed…but i didnt
Nikki // Oct 6, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Im fighting someone, not anyone close to me, but I can’t tell who it is. This is a reoccuring dream. When i’m fighting I am giving it my all, but my punches keep coming out very weak, and I become frustated and try harder and harder, but nothing works. I don’t know why they’re not fighting back, its almost like they enjoy watching me fail, or they just don’t notice how hard I’m trying

I just had a dream where I was fighting with a friend of mine, we ended up in a physical fist fight and somehow both of us walked away from it as if nothing happened. I woke up confused and stressed out because the fight was over something very little and petty

I have the same exact dreams as you guys. At least 3 or 4 times a week. That I’m in a fight and no matter how hard I try, my punches are extremely weak. I hate having this dream =[
Michael // Jun 13, 2009 at 10:17 pm
My Gosh, this exactly the same dream ive had so many times. In my dream I want to hit the other guy so bad ….it kinda makes me feel anxious, but no matter how much I try, my punches are weak. Like the first user, stated, “I try to hit them but I am so weak that it barely grazes them. Like I’m under water, or in quicksand - really slowed down, and I am giving all of my strength to hurt them but I cannot”. I often awake agitated and feeling kinda useless? I hate this dream. God I wish i would stop having it…
Thanks guys for sharing, makes me think maybe the dream isn’t a sign of something wrong or lacking in me.
philly // May 25, 2009 at 6:58 am
I am having the exact same reoccurring dream as the other two. In it I am always in some fight and I go to throw a fist and it does nothing.
Weird eh?
Loren // May 15, 2009 at 6:19 am
I also have a recurring dream of fighting with little force behind my punches as if I am weak. It started after a brutal fight in real life, also I began taking boxing lessons. The dream occurs at least once a week as well.
