Teeth are one of the most common dream symbols.
In dreams teeth can represent one or more of the following:
- strength and aggressiveness
- youth, vitality
- greed or devouring instincts, envy
- your self-confidence or estimation of your abilities
Dreams involving the loss, breakage, yellowing of teeth are extremely common and are most often regarded by psychologists as signs that the dreamer is worried (consciously or sub-consciously) about the loss or weakening of his or her strength, youth, beauty, or self-confidence.
To dream about teeth or a tooth can symbolize the breakdown of psychological information in order to defeat, understand or integrate it (i.e chewing on something).
Dreaming of teeth or of a tooth can symbolize the ability to get what we want, words we say or swallow, our social appearance, and it is often sign of our age.
Dreaming of losing some or all of one’s teeth can mean “losing it”. Not being able to get what one really wants, hence it is experienced as a sort of death or loss of self. In some cultures losing teeth traditionally portends the death of a family member.
Bad tooth: a symbol of a painful part of one’s feelings, life or relationships; angry or regretful words.
False teeth: can mean false face, lies, breaking promises, or the aging process and loss of youthful looks.
Spitting out teeth: can mean admitting something, saying it or expressing it emotionally.
Teeth falling out in a dream can be interpreted as sense of loss, such as a death of someone close to you. Falling teeth can represent worries about getting older - loss of youth and vitality. If a single tooth is lost it could mean loss or change of something important to you.
To be toothless in a dream can be interpreted as loss of effectiveness, or again, feelings about aging.
Below are some traditional interpretations of teeth as dream symbols:
- An ordinary dream of teeth augurs the onset of illness, or disquieting people.
- If you dream that your teeth are loose, there will be failures and gloomy tidings.
- If the doctor pulls your tooth, you will suffer a lingering illness that will be severe , if not fatal.
- To have your teeth filled, you will recover lost valuables after much uneasiness.
- To clean or wash your teeth, foretells that some great struggle will be demanded of you in order to preserve your fortune.
- To dream that you are having a set of teeth made, denotes that severe crosses will fall upon you, and you will strive to throw them aside.
- If you lose your teeth, you will have burdens which will crush your pride and demolish your affairs.
- To dream that you have your teeth knocked out, denotes sudden misfortune. It may mean that your business will suffer, or that there will be death or accidents close to you.
- To dream of examining your teeth, is a warning to be careful of your affairs, as enemies are lurking near you.
- If your teeth appear decayed or crooked, your business or health will suffer from intense strains.
- To dream of spitting out teeth, portends personal sickness, or sickness in your immediate family.
- Imperfect teeth is one of the worst dreams. It predicts multiple mishaps for the dreamer. A loss of property, failure in one’s plans and desires, health problems, depression.
- For one tooth to fall out, foretells disagreeable news; if two, it denotes unhappy states that the dreamer will be plunged into from no carelessness on his part.
- To dream of tartar or any deposit falling off of the teeth and leaving them sound and white, is a sign of temporary indisposition, which will pass, leaving you wiser in regard to conduct, and you will find enjoyment in the discharge of duty.
- To admire your teeth for their whiteness and beauty, foretells that pleasant occupations and much happiness will be experienced through the fulfillment of wishes.
- To dream that a dentist cleans your teeth perfectly, and the next morning you find them dirty, foretells someone you trust will deceive you.

About a month ago I had a dream about my tooth falling out. It was really strange so I told my parents. They said that someone in your family will die. I didn’t know how to stop that from happening, so I asked my grandma. She said that in order for that not to happen, you have but on your pilliow. But I didn’t do so, because I didn’t think anything would happen. Then, two weeks later, we found out that my uncle was stabbed to death. I was so sad untill I remembered about the dream I had. I’m not so sure if the dream was a prediction or not, but I still blame myself for it.
Last night, I had a dream about three of my teeth being black under my braces. When I woke up, I checked my teeth and they appeared white. This morning, I asked my grandma what it means and she said that it means something bad will happen to one of your family members. I’m still very curious as to why I’m having these dreams about my teeth.

I dream that my teeth are loose and all of the sudden fall out. I sometimes try to place them back in my mouth, especially if they are my front teeth. I don’t feel too stressed in my life right now, I wonder why I have these teeth dreams?

I just woke up from this dream… i’ve always been self conscious about my teeth… but in my dream, I was in the bathroom when all of the enamel fell off like a pane of glass… it’s like i can still hear the sound of them shattering on the bathroom floor… i looked up into the mirror, and my teeth were perfect… White, straight, beautiful smile. I am in training for another position at work, the work is hard, there’s sooo much to take in… i hope this means i will be happy with the transition to a new department, and that i shouldn’t stress over the information overload that i’m getting and the fear of failing…

I have had a couple of dreams about my teeth that did not occur concurrently, but around the same time of the month. The first one was my teeth had become really ugly. I could see the veins and it was pinkish-red. Kind of resembled shark teeth.
The second dream, my I was touching my tooth with my finger, and it broke. Suddenly, they all started falling off and chipping, until I became toothless. The weird thing was it felt “right” to be rid of all the teeth rather than just one falling off.
The third dream I had was, I broke my own tooth.

A couple nights ago I dreamt that I found someone else’s teeth and made a necklace out of them. Yesterday I was at my Grandpa’s for dinner and found plaster teeth, dentistry tools, etc… in his basement (he collects medical antiques), and decided to keep an old crown and set of plaster teeth. Now that I found these teeth in real life, I can’t quite remember the dream..

Last night I had a really odd dream - my teeth were bleeding from the teeth themselves and they didn’t hurt - not one bit. It was a really deep red and then they started to crumble. I have heard that when your teeth are in pain it means that there’s happiness/ celebration in the house but there was no pain in this case.

My tooth cracked yesterday, it was horrible, I was just eating bread and then i heard a cracking noise and had this horrible sinking feeling…….
Then I had a dream where my tooth fell out and I was glad, because it was the broken one, and I kept walking and as I walked all my other teeth fell into my hand.
I have a lot of problems with my teeth, I have a chipped one, a broken one and last year had to get surgery on one that wasn’t supposed to be there……

In my dreams, I’ll just be having a normal dream.. but for some reason I have an under-bite and I keep pulling my jaw in until my teeth break. Or I’ll try to open my jaw and it just yanks them out…

I did have coffee last night at 6 (unusual) and felt a bit uneasy from it.
The teeth dreams are fairly common.
Anxiety is not new in my life. Started getting a few white strands at nineteen.
I wrapped my broken ADULT tooth in a paper towel last night. It was a big tooth and sharp. I was concerned about the way I would look with it missing. I thought about what I could do to try to fix it.
I’ve dreamed before of crumbling teeth, being quite alarmed by teeth coming out and quite rational too (somehow I think I heard in real life, if you put it in milk they can put it back in?) Anyhow, I was thinking of doing that in one dream I had.
I would like to know what the dream meant. Not super satisfied with the definitions offered.
I was thinking maybe its about going through changes. Like you lose your teeth when you are a child and then you get adult teeth. Here I am now losing irreplacable adult teeth..

I was looking this up because yesterday my brother and I were at my mom’s house — she had died two weeks ago and we were going through and sorting her things. I was in her bedroom sorting and felt a space in my upper toothline. I had a missing tooth! It had fallen out somehow - I did not feel anything and could not find the tooth. I assume I swallowed it, but do not recall that at all. I was not eating, just sitting quietly going through papers and things. I went into the other room to tell my brother and he told me that yesterday he lost a tooth in her house! And, it was the same exact positioned tooth as mine!! We were very freaked out as this was REAL, not a dream. I saw above that explanation of losing a tooth in a dream can mean loss or death. It is true for sure, and in real life even spookier!

I used to have dreams where my teeth would fall out. The feeling of anxiety was horrible I can remember. I became lucid one time after my teeth started falling out ( I started using teeth as a dreamsign to recognize I was dreaming) and just laughed uncontrollably until I woke up.

I dreamed that my boss, who is in real life a lawyer, was actually a dentist and I was his long time assistant. He had a lot of patients in the waiting room and I thought he was taking too long, so I treated the patients by pulling out all THEIR teeth. I was concerned about how much anesthesia to give, but every patient woke up happy and thanked me for my services. My boss was mad that I was doing his job without a license. What’s THAT all about?

I dreamt I was eating a steak. For some reason I was eating it with my hands instead of cultery. As I took the steak away from my mouth, I saw that all my teeth were stuck in it.

I have had this dream only once before. it’s where My tooth isn’t quite loose… But, it is bothering me. And I keep putting my tongue on the tooth and playing with it. It gets gradually more and more wobbly over time. And eventually I just decide to pull it out. There is no blood, no pain. I just sort of pull it out so that I will stop playing with it.
I am a 22 yr. old college student going through a small bout of depression lately. Grad school has sort of removed my confidence. And not just academically but also in ways of beauty and my body’s strength. So I woke up the day before I had this dream and decided to change things. I didn’t like feeling the way I did and so I decided to make it different. I had the dream that night. I wonder if perhaps me pulling out the loose tooth is also me overcoming the bothersome loss of self-confidence… thoughts?

I had a dream were a dentist came round my house and took out my back top teeth and did not use any pain killer. I was screaming and then I looked at the teeth and they were black and I had this massive metal thing across my teeth and all I was doing was crying !!!!

I’ve knocked out my two front teeth in real life and have reaccurring dreams of breaking all of my teeth into tiny pieces and trying to spit them out while keeping them safe. I also grind my teeth in my sleep which I believe has something to do with it. If you dream a lot about your teeth, consider wearing a mouth guard!
kim // Feb 7, 2010 at 8:35 am
So I really don’t know what, if any of the previous were indicated in my dream, but I had a dream last night that my tooth was rotted and half of it fell out, leaving the other half decayed, yellow and crucked in my mouth and i was bleeding perfusly! Then my mom lost her tooth completely… i told her it was the water we were drinking!
one of the weirdest dreams I have had in 10 years!
So would my dream be a mixture of several of the previous interpretations?
if so, i believe life as i know it is doomed, where is my Avatar when I need it?
audrey // Feb 1, 2010 at 9:58 pm
i feel a little better knowing a lot of people have negative teeth dreams. of all the ones i have read mine is a little different. in my teeth dreams, they all get really loose, then i try pushing them back up into my gums because i love them and dont want them to fall out, and i am continually pushing them back in, and they become all crooked and out of place and they wont stay, and it really scares me i dont like it at all. im 22 but it might be the whole i think im losing my beauty thing, but i really just hope i stop having them.. it forced me to go to the dentist. they laughed at me. help.

I had a rite bad dream last night, I was at home and my tooth started to wobble big time I was like ohh sh**. I showed my mum and she was like that needs sorting out.
Shuusshh don’t say anything but I have a bad habit of sucking my thumb from time to time, I thought it was that that made my tooth wobbly. Anyways..
Then I was in college and for some reason my parents were there, which was quite strange. My wobbly tooth actually fell out and I was like OMG!! I had to get away, I left my mum and dad and took a long route out of college so no one would see me, then I like clenched my teeth and an incisor crunched, I caught half of it that fell out in my hand and stared at it. Then all but the two very back teeth had fallen out. My mouth looked an absolute mess, also, the two back teeth were stopping me from closing my mouth and everyone could see that my teeth had fallen out. I was stumbling around walking past college with my mouth open, holding all my teeth in my hands and I kept walking past girls who were giving me horrible dirty looks.
Worst dream ever!

In my dream I am caring for a little girl of about 2 years in age. She has very rosy cheeks and her name is Apple. I love this child and am terribly anguished that when she smiles or talks, her teeth are exposed. There are 2 sets, one is quite normal, the other is not attached to anything, and float around inside of her mouth. The second set of teeth are in terrible shape, crooked, decayed and quite yellow. I am quite shaken upon waking from this dream. I hope someone can offer an explanation - thanks!

I have recurring dreams where my teeth are pushing together, and they eventually push together so hard they start breaking….sometime I spit pieces out, sometimes not. I never feel pain, but I sometimes I feel like I can literally feel the pressure of it happening. I have not been able to find anyone else with this kind of dream, maybe someone has an explanation?

I had a dream where my teeth were decaying and getting smaller each time I looked at them until sections at a time they would disappear. And they got more crooked each time… I’m not sure what it means though…

Ok, so although it may not be the main topic in my dream, i do loose a tooth.
General storyline is Hitler is actually Jesus, in a wheel chair, & being hunted down by several assassins, whom i am trying to save him from. Throughout the dream one of my front teeth is getting looser & looser, until, when Hitler get shot on a bus, & then dies on a pile of gravel, it falls out. The female assassin is trying to go after one of the other survivors (she killed everyone else on the bus straight off except for me, Hitler & some other guy), but i stop her, & she comes over with me to see Hitler dying, which is when my loose tooth falls out. She grabbed me and looked in my mouth & said “hmm, that means you’re..” & then i woke up before she finished…

My dream last night was that my teeth were completely covered by my gums. I could actually feel the gums and I was horrified. I would try to talk to people but no one could understand me and no one even acknowledged my gums sticking out of my mouth. Eventually later in the dream the gums faded away and so did my front teeth and all I had was misshapen back teeth. I’ve had tons of reoccurring dreams about my teeth falling out and then my chewing on them and spitting them out. But this one was by far the worst!
jamblo // Dec 22, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Get this…last week I had a dream that one of my front teeth was loose, so I started wiggling it then it came out. Then I reached in my mouth to feel if any others were loose, but my teeth had all turned into little mini sharks that were trying to bite my fingers! Weird right?
Then I went to see Avatar last night and was having an Avatar-themed dream, running through the forest, etc. when one of my lower front teeth fell out. Then, low and behold, I reached into my mouth and started pulling out my other teeth (no mini sharks this time).
What gives?
Patrick // Dec 13, 2009 at 4:20 pm
I’ve had about 6 dreams in the past two or three months about my teeth falling out. I think one of the reasons is that I don’t feel like people really want to listen to me and don’t understand me. Mixed with loss of self/hope - not getting what you really want. Every time in the dreams before the teeth fall out, something bad happened right before, like crashing a car for example. The most recent one I had, which was last night, the teeth fell out a couple at a time. Then all my upper front teeth came off as one, and there were strong healthy teeth behind it…hope that’s a good sign, maybe I won’t dream it again. Its pretty chilling to dream about your teeth falling out..feels so real every time.

Okay i just woke up from a dream ive been having for several months now. My dreams are always normal sometimes good sometimes bad but they turn worse partway thru.. My jaw becomes clamped shut an im doin everything i can to open it. I even try to pry it open with my hands..but it hurts very badly. I feel as if my teeth are about to break but they never do. The left side of my jaw hurts the most in my dreams. Its a terrible feeling and its been happening every nite. In my dream I feel helpless. Its like my jaw just isnt supposed to open as much as i want it to.. Also when im awake i cant clamp my jaw together tight enough to make it hurt. So is the pain in my mind too? Can anyone help. Im thinkin of getting a mouth piece just to c if it helps.

I’m 17, and I have no problems with my teeth, they are perfectly fine. but for more than a year now I’ve been having these wierd dreams where I’m clenching my teeth, and putting a LOT of force on my teeth, that it hurts, and often I know that its a dream and I try to wake up (because the dream for me is so uncomfortable, painful and I feel so helpless) but I cant. I cant stop my jaw from opening, I try soooo hard. A while ago I started having this dream almost every single night, and I wouldnt want to go to sleep. I’m not exagerrating it but I terrified by them. so I would love to know why I am having these dreams.

I had a dream that i was brushing my teeth with a teeth whitener toothpaste and it made my teeth almost clear and softened them up and they all came out together almost like a mouth guard…my gums were fine…no blood no pain….and I didn’t say anything in my dream, I just smiled with a closed mouth…I found it disturbing and scary.
Joey // Nov 24, 2009 at 6:58 am
I had a dream, very very confusing, there was many mixed themes, and at some point, my teeth. I’ve been trying to figure out the meaning to them… here goes; I murdered several people, argued with more people, then i was walking up my stairs to get into my house, and kept tripping and falling on my face at least 5 times. I had broken my nose and bloodied my face. When i entered the house i went to the mirror to see what had happened, then i opened my mouth to see my teeth and they started to shatter in my mouth right before my eyes, in a panic i screamed uncontrollably and smashed my head into the mirror… that’s where my dream stopped.
It seems that one some point in my dreams they always end up with my teeth breaking the exact same way, and the worst part is that these dreams are happening very often lately…

Dear shane the dream that you’ve defined is exactly what I’m experiencing these days. It’s just been 2 months since these started. Every night it’s a different dream but at some point I always experience my teeth crumbling and completely loosing out. I think there is really something that my dreams are telling me cause its just not normal to have the same dream repeatedly. If anyone knows about it plzz do share your thoughts. Thank you

Dreaming of loosing a tooth is trying to warn you that someone in your family is going to die. I have dreamt of losing a tooth before and every time I lose a tooth someone that is close to me or a relative dies. My mom always tells me that every time I dream of losing teeth I should just keep it to myself because the more you say it to people the more possibility that someone is going to die. She always tells me to always bite on a piece of wood right when you wake up after having this dream.

I’ve had several dreams where I was pressing my teeth together awkwardly and wanted to stop but I couldn’t until it felt like my teeth were going to fall out. Last Night I had a similar dream but when I did that half of my teeth broke out and they were all hollow. I ran to the kitchen table where my mother and grandfather were eating. When I showed them the teeth in my hand they just looked at me and didn’t say anything.

I dreamed I was staying in a hotel with a large group of people, but i had a private room, we were getting ready to leave, but i had not packed yet, so i hurried back to the room and began franticly packing. I remember finding things behind the bed, then i looked in the mirror and my two front bottom teeth were missing, and when i pressed on them it hurt and was bloody. I ran out of the room, but covered my mouth so no one could see. I remember thinking how ugly it was, and that I needed to fix them asap. ( my fiance and I had an argument the night of the dream, and stayed out all night)

I had a dream where I bit down and my teeth were made of rotten wood and all of the water and gunk came out of the wood and filled my mouth and I choked. Also, recently I had one where I bit into an apple and loads of my teeth fell out and I lost them.

Last week I dreamed my rh side back molar fell out and was hanging on by a strand which eventually broke and the tooth landed on my tongue. I plucked it out and was stunned to see it, and the remaining bottom teeth, were rotted through. I’m fussy about my teeth and have looked after them all my life. I’ve got a lot going on in my life at the moment and I’m nervous about this dream.

The dream I had was one of the most vivid I have ever had. In it I had some discomfort in one of my lower teeth. The tooth was the fourth from the back on the lower left side of my mouth. I reached in to feel it and it simply fell out. Panicking, I dropped the tooth on to the floor and felt where I had pulled it from. To my surprise the tooth was still in my head. I grabbed a hold of new tooth and the two surrounding it and broke all of them out. They were extremely brittle and broke out with very little force leaving little pieces of tooth in my mouth. The teeth kept reappearing in my mouth and I eventually started to break them out with both hands. I remember looking down and seeing a mound of bloody teeth and feeling excruciating pain. The sensation lasted only for a brief period before I woke up. This happened to me about four months ago and I can still remember almost every detail.

Dreamed my homeboy was missing his front teeth, both top and bottom. He was walking down the street to my moms house. I was out in the front yard and I greeted him at the end of the driveway. (Mind you, I haven’t seen him in a couple of years.) He smiled, I saw his mouth but before I could ask him what happened, he told me “his kids did it and they had put something in his drink.” Help me please!

I hate these dreams!
I have a phobia where I’m terribly scared that I’ll lose my teeth in REAL LIFE, and my “falling out” dreams don’t make it any easier.
Every time I have one of these dreams someone I know, or even if I don’t know, celebrities, etc dies. I know it’s strange but it happens 90% of the time.
Now it’s not just people…It’s jobs…losing items…anything that can be “lost”.
Dreaming of teeth falling out, especially the front tooth, it’s a sign of bad karma.

I have a recurring dream, although only about 3-4 times a year, where I am being chased by one or more people who are trying to pull my teeth out. I usually end up making it to my apartment and locking myself in but the teeth-stealers end up getting in and pulling at least one of my teeth out.

I have dreams sometimes where one or more of my teeth breaks. I broke a molar in real life and had the filling break a few times, so I really know what it feels like. What always surprises me about breaking teeth dreams is how REAL the feeling of the broken tooth is in my mouth, the chips of it moving around until I can find them and get them out. I guess in other dreams I’m just not as aware of the physical sensation of the “dream world” but these just feel so real I almost think that something must have been in my mouth in real life while I was sleeping that made me have these dreams.

I have dreams about my teeth being loose, so I don’t mess with them, then my tounge brushes against one, and it falls out. Then another, until the whole right side of the top of my mouth is toothless. I’m usually holding the teeth in my hand and trying to put them back in, and I wake myself up because I’m whimpering out loud. I’ve been having these dreams for about a month now at least 5 times a week. I have no idea what they could possibly mean, but it’s very discomforting.
Irene // Apr 30, 2009 at 5:23 am
I just dreamt that one by one 3 of my back teeth became loose and so I pulled them out. One of them already had another tooth growing. In the dream I was not scared, anxious etc and was actually quite pleased because (even although I am in 20s so won’t grow new ones) new healthier ones would grow in. This doesn’t seem to fit with any of the descriptions of anxiety and loss etc, so wasn’t sure what to make of it.

Last night I dreamt I was standing in front of my bedroom systematically reaching into my mouth and crushing my teeth one my one. There was no pain in the dream, just disgust because the teeth would crumble between my fingers like a dried up leaf. In the dream I looked inside my mouth and inside my gums where my teeth should have been there were strange looking worms ( like tube worms if anyone watches documentaries on coral… ) There was no pain or terror in the dream, but I woke up and my heart was pounding so bad it hurt. Not pleasant, no idea what it means.

I dreamed that a guy (one that I was not particularly interested in) was turned off because my teeth were too sharp. WTF does that mean??
Gina // Apr 12, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Once in a while, I will have a dream where my teeth begin by falling out one at a time, they just come loose and fall out and then I spit them out. But then they start coming in greater amounts, so that my mouth is filled (impossibly so) with teeth that I am spitting out–more teeth than I could ever possibly have. And I realize it is not as if I suddenly have bare gums–my mouth is intact. It’s almost like my mouth is magically producing teeth. Like that magician’s trick with the scarves up his sleeve, or thirty clowns getting out of a very small car. Eventually it’s almost as if the teeth are pouring out of me. As you might imagine, these dreams seem quite urgent.
Cristina // Apr 3, 2009 at 8:58 pm
I am 24 and for a few years now, I have been having all different dreams about teeth. Dreams usually start out with normal events but end up with my teeth falling out, cracking, chipping without any warning. A lot of times I try to wake myself up because the dreams are frightening. Also, I know that I clench my jaw in my sleep when I am having these dreams. Sometimes in my dreams my teeth break as a result of me clenching my jaw. I try to pry my jaw open, but I cant. I don’t have any issues with my teeth, but every time I wake up, I check my teeth because I am so scared that one night I will actually break my teeth in my sleep. I am used to having these dreams, but they scare me every time. I wish I knew why I had these dreams. They are horrible. Any ideas?

I had a dream - second day in a row, with my teeth having food stuck in them!

I dreamt that I wanted whiter teeth and you had to brush them with this particular toothpaste so they became wobbly and fall out. Once they had become wobbly they all of a sudden were in a black box that represented the teeth and gums. It was like a replicar of the mouth but black and showed all the things that were wrong with my teeth.
After this i could get them out the box and put them back in and they were perfect and white again.

I dreamt that my neighbor ran by my house, then my teeth started to push each other in my mouth When I tried to align them back together they felt as though they were about to fall out but only one did, my left front tooth fell onto the fingers I was using to check it.
This is probably the second time I have had a dream about teeth falling out.

I dreamt of spitting out a bloody molar last night, and I know they say teeth dreams are very common, but this is the first time that teeth have entered my dreams. It was extremely vivid and unsettling. Oral hygiene has always been important to me and I have never even had a cavity, so losing a tooth upset me tremendously in the dream.

I have the same dream a lot maybe over the past couple of years, where my teeth crumble and chip, I spit them out into my hands and there is heaps of blood and all my teeth start doing the same. I always play with my teeth with my tongue because I had 2 chipped teeth up until a month ago when I got them fixed after 3 years. But the dreams remind me of what it looked like spitting the teeth out, except there was no blood in real life.

> Mari: It may mean you’re gonna have problems with those teeth and may not necessarily mean anything else. Today I accidentally chipped off a tooth when biting hard on a pork rib, and strangely enough, I dreamt of the same teeth breaking off just a month ago! I thought something was going to happen to my family, but turned out I really broke my tooth. Premonition??

I had a dream that my first top molar on the left side broke, crumbled and fell out. I spit the pieces out into my hand and looked at my teeth and the same molar on the opposite side did the same thing…spit it out again and when I looked again I had two hole where they were missing and I woke up…it was so weird…any comments??

A relative of mine dreamt of her tooth breaking in her dream, and one day later, my dad passed away. Sad.

I just woke up from a dream where my lower right canine was about to fall out. It was very loose on the roots. The only reason it didn’t fall off was I had braces. So I tried to push it back in with my tongue, I didnt talk throughout the whole dream.
It may have a meaning in accordance to our personality. When there is a problem in real life, I would be the one who specifically knows exactly what it is (cause) before anyone else. Though the problems I/we face may seem all too impossible to go through, I would be the one who will somehow manage to find a solution for it since I have the confidence/guidance. The fact that I don’t talk in the dream would symbolize that I am a quiet person; even if I’m having some major problems, I don’t tell it to anyone because I believe that I can handle it on my own.

Last night I dreamt that one of my teeth fell out and I tried quickly to put it back in though I was worried if I had put it in the right way around. It then fell out again and broke into many, many pieces. I thought to myself well I can’t put that back together now. When I looked in the mirror again my other teeth had all moved and filled in the space where the tooth had fallen from.
I thought that maybe this showed that I was concerned about something changing and maybe losing out on something but that everything would work out in the end so that I wouldn’t really miss the thing I had lost. Anyone got a different interpretation?

Hi, in my country of Indonesia, a lot of people believe that dreaming about a falling tooth means very bad luck or a loss of a family member. But I dreamt of a chipped tooth in the front part of my mouth and it hurts a bit, just like when you chip you tooth in real life.

I had a dream were I was having a conversation with friends. The only thing I can remember is that we discussed the important, and compliments of one of the girls teeth. What does this mean?

Hello,
Last nite I had a dream that I lost two of my front teeth. I looked very funny. I am horrified right now because I am afraid to lose my family and my loved ones. Over 5 years ago, my best friend dreamed of her teacher with no teeth and bleeding all over her mouth. Couple days later her niece died. Last night, me and my boyfriend were talking about teeth. I hope that’s the reason.
Brooke // Nov 3, 2008 at 7:12 pm
I always have this dream that my front teeth have a huge gap in them. At least once a month, and in my dream I try to push them back together.

I had a dream last night about all my teeth falling out. I have been stressing out lately about school work since im just starting my major classes and they have been pretty challenging. I also have been worried about my love life and i have been feeling that im loosing touch with a person that i really like. But overall I believe loosing teeth in a dream is just the all the worries that a person is going through in real life and those worries are causing a “breaking” of self which is manifested in breaking (losing) of teeth.

Last night, I dreamed that a molar broke off and fell out of my mouth. Then, progressively throughout the day, little handfuls of broken teeth and sealants would fall out until all I had was sharp little stubs left. I just lost my father, and it has been extremely painful. From the sounds of this forum, that was probably the cause of the dream.
julia // Sep 27, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Ashley, that is really scary to think about.. I’m so sorry about your loss. I’ve had dreams about losing my teeth before… But I had one a couple nights ago and I called my mom today and she said that my grand-pa is gonna have surgery soon. Then I told her about my dream and she asked if there was blood, and i said yeah, so she said it means a blood relative is going to be hurt or something. =/ That’s really scary. I hope my grandpa will be ok.
Ashley // Sep 17, 2008 at 12:14 pm
I dreamed that I had lost my front teeth. a month later my mother developed a brain tumor and fell into coma after surgery and died. I think your teeth represent your family members, so loosing them in your dream means a loss is coming

Last night I had a dream where one of my teeth came out, and then they all started crumbling. They either all fell out, or were severely chipped. This dream was terrifying!!! I woke up and immediately checked my mouth because I thought it was real. I am only 22 years old, so I do not think that I am afraid of getting older. I have been under a tremendous amount of strain though, so hopefully this dream is just a manifestation of all of the stress I have been experiencing as of late.

I’ve had a dream where i felt a slight pain in my bottom teeth and as I rubbed it with my tongue it broke and fell out. Upon examining it, it appeared brown with yellow bits, so I looked in the mirror and found all my front teeth were the same. Then as I touched them they just snapped leaving me with a mouthful of teeth to spit into my hand They looked as if they should have been in a 150 year old man’s mouth! Then each time I tried to close my mouth or speak the sharp stumps stopped me from doing so, but there was an old lady who I did not recognise and when I spoke to her my mouth seemed fine and I could speak normally. At the moment in my life I am going through a lot of hardship and feel I can’t speak to or seek advice from anyone… I just wish I knew who the old lady was as she may be the one to help me… Who knows???

I’ve had this dream several times over the last couple of months. It’s of me being at a party and then I put a little pressure on my jaw and then beginning with my molars, all of my teeth start falling out one by one till I have a huge handful of my teeth…
Alysha // Jul 28, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I have had several dreams in the past where my teeth are in so much pain. Often a tooth will be soft, rubbery like and the pain is excruciating. I just had another dream last night, again a tooth was causing pain.
I believe this has something to do with my feelings and state of mind at the moment. My partner of 3 and a half years just suddenly broke off our relationship 3 days ago. I’ve been tough and not yet cried, I’ve kept myself busy but deep inside I think my dreams are letting it out.
Bad tooth: a symbol of a painful part of one’s feelings, life or relationships; angry or regretful words.
Julie // Jul 25, 2008 at 1:32 pm
In my dream I was very conscious of pain in my teeth when my first front tooth broke into shards. Looking up into the mirror at my teeth, they started bleeding - and not from the gum but the actual tooth was bleeding black blood. I’ve had other dreams where my gums were raw or my teeth were falling out but nothing like this before.
shayna // Jul 19, 2008 at 10:58 am
I had a dream someone put one of those fake teeth things on my teeth that the rappers wear and when she tried to take it off my teeth came out with it. Not all of them, but a few of them and it wasn’t painful. I just picked up the teeth and looked at myself in the mirror. It was my back teeth - none in the front.

I’ve had several dreams in the past several years about my teeth chipping and/or falling out. I had one last nite that my front tooth (which was chipped in real life when I was 8 and had to get it fixed) chipped again and most of it was gone and I was just staring in the mirror at it. A different tooth was also slightly chipped in the dream. I’ve looked up the meaning in books and on the web and I can’t say for sure what it is, but I do have someone in my life who I trusted completely and I found out I was lied to, which is one of the interpretations.
Anon // May 17, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I repeatedly have dreams about my teeth every single night for the past few months and everytime I still wake up scared and sometimes my teeth actually hurt. Some dreams are about them falling out completely and then i put them in a glass of milk. Other times pieces of them chip off. Sometimes they don’t even fall out in my dream, the dream just begins that way and my whole dream I can go with messed up teeth like it’s just my life. I’m a perfectly happy person and nothing is out of the ordinary in my life. I just don’t want to have these dreams anymore!
Gisela // May 12, 2008 at 5:56 pm
I literally just had a dream that I was in the bathroom and my tooth is bleeding in the back and it falls out…
and right now in like I am in a relationship which I am not necessarily tired of but I am getting a bit irritated or aggravated…
which isn’t his fault almost at all….
I just feel like other things are important right now…I also feel super stressed out and I feel like I cant talk to anyone and the ones I probably could go to I slowly push away
Shehla // May 5, 2008 at 12:57 am
I keep having the “falling teeth” dream. Sometimes it’s just a loose tooth, sometime the tooth falls out and the last one I had was three teeth falling out one after another and I discovered cavities in my teeth (on the inside, rather than on the surface).
Now, in real life I’m very particular about my teeth, I floss regularly and I’ve never had a cavity in my life.
The way I interpret my “falling teeth” dreams is that something which I thought was permanent in my life will change.
Although my last dream does stump me, because I’m not sure what the appearance of cavities seems to indicate.

I have a dream where I’m squeezing my jaw really tight and I feel the pressure on one tooth and it falls out completely from the pressure… What does this mean? I’ve had this dream a lot.
Jennie // Feb 4, 2008 at 8:45 am
I have a slightly chipped tooth in real life. This tooth in my dream was getting worse and worse. It darkened and fell out. It crumbled. My other teeth started to get very bad and fall out as well. Eventually I was left with NONE. I had my bottom teeth but my top teeth were gone. I looked like an old lady.
I am 19 years old and I doubt that I was in fear of getting older. I think I am in fear of failing, losing something and I feel helpless at the moment. I hope that this dream says only something about what I feel NOW and does not say anything about my future… I believe dreams are very much so about feelings at the present moment.

I have this recurring dream that my teeth have all become wider, pushing the surrounding teeth out of my mouth. As a result, I have only 4 teeth left. I feel that this is my subconscious sending me a message that in my waking life, I have pushed people away as a result of many duties and little time. This is possibly a sign that my life has become more focused (or should become more focused), on the few teeth left (important relationships). Most translations of tooth loss in dreams are displayed as being negative, but you never know, right? -3ileen
Eileen // Jan 31, 2008 at 12:55 am
I have heard that a dream of the loss of a tooth, or teeth becoming loose, represents the instability of important relationships. Maybe in reality you feel that a close friendship is in jeopardy, or perhaps you fear losing a loved one.
Shane // Dec 30, 2007 at 12:06 pm
I’ve had several dreams over the past year about my teeth breaking and crumbling in my mouth. About 6 months before the dreams started, I had chipped a tooth on a fork. For some reason, you think of teeth as permanent and irreplaceable, and when you really chip or break a tooth you have that “Oh, NO!” helpless, horrible feeling for at least a second when in happens. I think the brain captures that feeling and intensifies it through the broken tooth dream. Not pleasant, and the actual interpretation as to /why/ myself or people like me have this dream is a mystery to me, but I’m curious to know if most of the people that have the ‘broken teeth’ dream have experience it in everyday life.

I heard drinking coffee before sleep makes you dream about teeth
