Being stuck, overwhelmed, drawn into something dangerous; feelings of inadequacy. Deceptive because it looks like ordinary sand, quicksand can symbolize being caught unawares in an unstable situation. Often the ground beneath my feet opens up as a black hole and I sink into it. As I sink, the black circle encompasses my field of vision, then gets smaller. I look up and watch as what I was doing on the surface slides into the distance through a shrinking black hole. Even thought it’s visually a slow sink, I get the same sensation as falling and it’s terrifying. I sink at different rates and consciously force myself to wake up at different depths (terror levels!) Last time, though, i never got past my neck. Yay!
