When i was younger id have this dream, not once but more than once…. I would be walking by or near a place (beside my church) that I find creepy because its so dark it is a field and there is just trees surrounding the area and id get scared in the dream and start to run sometimes I’m with friends, sometimes alone and trying to get to friends (or people that can see me) and as i run it starts to feel harder and harder to run until I just freeze and I feel as if im being forced to go to the place like im being pulled there and as i try fight it i’m trying to get people to see me but i dont think they do right away until i get away myself (by holding onto stuff n trying to run despite it being so hard and so slow) and in the case of being with friends my friends would get away and id end up getting frozen again and being pulled into the area that we are trying to avoid and they would help me get away (by pulling my hand) and i’d eventually get away. This was like a nightmare for me. I hope to know what this means. Thank You

I dream almost every night about running! I feel the need to be somewhere or I’m late to get there. Could be a real place or some times it’s made up. There’s always people from my life around me sometimes running sometimes driving. I wake up a lot when I have these dreams and I’m always sweating like as if I was really working out!

I had a dream where I was running in my gym. It was a race against what i thought to be an ogre? I dreamt I was running after a child I was looking after but I couldn’t run fast enough. Then I was running out of breath. It was only a 30 second run. My sister had to get the child and told me I wouldn’t be allowed to look after it.

  • Russell // Mar 16, 2013 at 6:24 am

Since a lot of dreams harken back to childhood, I believe that running slow in dreams is like when you were very young and trying to catch up to others. It took everything to just get there. That feeling is brought forward to any present situation and your subconscious mind is trying to equate the two.

In every dream, whenever I’m trying to run from something or after something, something holds my arms. But when I check, there’s nothing holding me. Even so, I still can’t run.

  • Kevin // May 20, 2012 at 11:35 am

In my dream I am trying to run but I keep falling down and hitting the ground. I don’t know if I am running from something or to something but I am terrified and exhausted and out of breath. I also have trouble opening my eyes I can only get them half open and when I do things are blurry and super bright. This is how the dream goes on until the end when it feels like something caught up to me and there are a bunch of them. They surround me and then I wake up.
I have had this dream on and off my whole life I have no clue what it means.

  • stephanie // Feb 12, 2012 at 9:42 pm

So for as long as I can remember I have dreams almost everynight of me running from someone or something but i never get to see what it is.i feel like im aware of whats going on in my dream enough to control it, i can control my actions but the thing is, i can never make myself run fast enough it’s like slow motion. no matter how hard i try. my dreams are always in different places or towns or what ever, but i am allllllllways running, wether im running with people or alone.
I hate it, and im always scared

I think I’m chasing someone and while I’m running I can jump over cars and other vehicles.

I dreamed that I saw my ex-boyfriend running and it appears that I was on my way to meet him and he was running to meet up with me.

Just had my very first running dream last night. Surprisingly I have never had one before; not even in middle school when all I did was try to run away from my problems. This dream though, was running towards something. I could feel myself pushing to get there. Feeling the sweat run down my body. My muscles tightening. Being more and more eager to get there with every step.

It was all outside in nature in very familiar areas I have visited along the West Coastline of America. Here and there would be a close friend of mine waving hi. Then there would be my boyfriend, motivating me to go even further.

When I awoke from it, I had just recalled running to something with great need. I was worried it were to be from reason, but it was not. Reading more on what types of running dreams there are then typing this out gives me great ease. Thank you.

I twice had a dream that I was just running but did not reach a destination and then woke up immediately.

  • linda // Mar 19, 2011 at 6:41 am

In this dream my ex from 20yrs ago is holding my hand and I feel safe. Then he has on a long coat (like in cowboy movies) and puts on huge shoes and he got smaller in height and I was on the top floor and could see him on the bottom running away with the coat dragging the floor. Not scary but what the heck? I’m friends with my ex but don’t think of him in romantic way… Any ideas?

  • Sara // Feb 23, 2011 at 6:05 pm

I always have the same dream over and over..It’s like this for a year now. I keep running away from something & I’m always really scared and crying. But I can’t run fast. It’s like I really want to run but my legs just keep moving very slowly! I hate this dream. I just don’t understand why I keep dreaming this over and over.

  • Irena // Jan 23, 2011 at 4:31 pm

I dreamed that I was at school and I was running around (theres a building and I’m running around it) with my friend. I don’t know what I was running to, I was just running and hearing people talking and seeing people smiling in a blur. It was quick.

I had a running dream last night. I’m not sure if I was running from something or to something. I remember being in my house with a bunch of people around me. All of sudden I asked to go outside and I just started running. But I felt restricted like it was hard to run but I kept trying to push. I felt kind of scared like I just needed to get away. I came to a place and someone was there, a boy. He held me and made me feel safe like I didn’t want to leave his arms. This dream kind of freaked me out and I don’t understand what it’s about. Just thought I’d share.

I had this dream where there was a bomb exploding and everyone was running to safety and I was trying to run my fastest and in real life I’m usually faster than everyone else. But in my dream everyone was running past me and I felt as if I was in slow motion.

  • derik // Aug 9, 2010 at 2:24 am

I have these dreams, that I’m running toward something, and also away from something really bad at the same time. I’m running to get help. but when i try to run, it feels as though I’m weightless. like I can’t get the rhythm of it, so I usually end up going on all fours holding onto the grass to propel myself.
