The ghost may be an expression of outdated modes of behavior or memories or regrets that are still haunting you. The dream may be expressing a feeling or fear that you do not have a ghost of a chance in some situation or relationship. Freud thought that dream ghosts represented infantile memories of a mother figure who looked in on her sleeping child.
